FoodSpark #22: Womanism v. Feminism II

  • beverly 3155 Cherokee Street St. Louis, MO, 63118 (map)
womanism vs femanism

For the March FoodSpark potluck (which is also Women's History Month), we're rekindling our amazing conversation on "Womanism v. Feminism." This time, though, we’re using art and music as the starter for conversation. We will gather amongst St. Louis artist Kat Reynolds’ beautiful show, “Ask Her How She’s Doing,” at beverly gallery. Themes of this work will be paired with conversation about Beyonce’s song "Formation” as a foundation for discussion about the intersections of race, activism, and womanhood.

This Month's Culinary Theme: "Hot Sauce in my Bag"

Bring creole, cajun, or soul food dishes that pack heat and lots of flavor. Foods to consider: banana's foster, black eyed peas, candied yams, chicken-andouille gumbo, collard greens, crawfish etouffe, grilled catfish, jalapeno cornbread, jambalaya, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, okra and tomatoes, peach cobbler, potato salad, red beans and rice, shrimp and grits
